October 14, 2016, we went
out to Port Hudson State Historic Site for their homeschool day. They had
several stations set up to teach about the Civil War. They included women
in the war, medical practice, musket firing and uniform requirements, cannon
firing, soldier rations, native soldiers in the war, and the Navy battle at
Port Hudson. This field trip never disappoints, as there is always so
much to learn.

November ~ Bayou Cajun Homeschoolers Corn Maze Day
In November, we had a private day set up at the Cajun Country Corn Maze. Our group was able to enjoy the maze, the pavilion for a picnic, along with all of the other activities available at the maze. It always provides hours of fun for everyone!!!

September ~ St. George Fire Department Training Center
Back in September, St. George Fire Dept. Training Center set up a multiple education days for our group. We were able to tour their facilities. The fire fighters has different stations set up for the kids to rotate through to see the different trucks along with the inflatable smoke house. The kids were able to get in the trucks and ask all the questions they wanted to the firemen.
While the younger kids were rotating through the different stations, the middle school & high school kids were taken to the fire truck simulator so they could practice driving a fire truck.
We had a great time. The firemen were incredible with the kids and they sent them home with goodies too!
